The Islamic Republic of Iran have blasted the United Kingdom’s conclusion to proscribe Hezzbollah in it’s entirety as a terrorist organisation, declaring the decision as “wrong and irresponsible.”
The UK government stated that it would be illegal to be a member of or invite support for the extremist Shiite terrorist organisation.
The proscription of Hezzbollah followed a series of events, which included the flag of the terrorist group being pictured flying on the streets of London during a march at a pro-Palestinian demonstration.
“Iran considers Hezbollah a legitimate and legal force which plays an effective and undeniable role in helping its country´s political stability and safeguarding its security,” It was claimed on the website of the foreign ministry.
Hezzbollah was created back in 1982 whilst the Lebanon was in the midst of a civil war and even subsequently fought Israel in 2006.
Hezzbollah which literally translates as “Party of Allah” plays a pivotal role in Lebanese politics, they hold three posts in the cabinet.
The UK government proscribed the military wing of Hezzbollah back in 2008, but strangely they decided not to proscribe the political wing of the terrorist organisation.
The British Home Secretary Jeremy Hunt confirmed that any variation between the military and political wings of Hezzbollah simply “does not exist”.
Iran is a key ally of Hezzbollah and their so-called “resistance” against Tehran’s long-standing rival Israel.
The self-proclaimed “Party of Allah” is a clear threat to western values and culture, the Jewish minority in Britain and Europe, and is an affront to decency, democracy, and civil liberties.
The United Kingdom was enthusiastically commended by the United States and Israel for outlawing Hezzbollah.
