Under Theresa May’s Chequers Plan, a post Brexit UK will become like Vichy France

After the defeat of France by Nazi forces in 1940, an armistice was signed between Germany and France. Paul Reynauld resigned as Prime Minister of the French government and was replaced by the aged Marshall Philippe Petain (who was even older than Churchill.) Petain was a popular figure and hero of the Great War-he had single handedly prevented the collapse of the French army in 1916 when it looked like the German onslaught would finally succeed and was perceived as being quite charismatic and a bit of a womaniser. He was an advocate of ending the war and seeking a peace settlement with the Germans. He was voted in as PM by the French cabinet and immediately sought and secured an armistice and surrendered to the Germans. As part of this peace settlement the Germans occupied only certain parts of Northern France, Paris and certain areas of the West coast (in order to gain access to the ports to base submarines there to harry UK shipping). There was also a fairly large ‘free zone’ in the South, which was not occupied by the Germans and was headed by Petain and Pierre Laval based in the spa town of Vichy-Vichy France.

Vichy France was, in theory, an independent country. It’s government could, in theory, decide its own policies on any matter. In reality, it was merely a vassal state of the German Reich that more or less automatically aligned its policies with those of Germany anyway.

This is the situation that would pertain under Theresa May’s Chequers Plan. It would turn the UK into a version of Vichy France- a vassal state of the EU that is technically independent of the bloc but in reality is informally subservient to it and that has its policies on many issues decided in Brussels with Theresa ‘Marshall Petain’ May complying with her master’s wishes by aligning the UK’s policies to those of the EU anyway automatically.

Self-styled “Bad boys of Brexit” Aaron Bank and Andy Wigmore become members of the Conservative Party

For a while now Westmonster and Leave.EU seemed to have been ramping up support for joining the Conservative Party. They are joining to cause controversy and potentially help a Brexiteer to mount a leadership challenge on Theresa May.

According to Westmonster they have been welcomed with open arms with them revealing a confirmation E-mail from the Conservative Party Chairman Brandon Lewis writing:  “your membership is now activated and you can attend party events both locally and nationally” It will be interesting to see what their intentions are.

The E-mail also declares: “3 months from the beginning of your membership, you can take part in the selection of candidates in your constituency and in future party leadership elections.” Like I said it will be interesting to see what they are planning.

Aaron Banks the millionaire former UKIP donor, spoke to his news company Westmonster and said:

“We believe that the battle for Brexit is now within the Conservative Party and the upcoming leadership election.

“Over 1.4m people follow Leave.EU online and we have urged them to join up and have their say.

“Most of our members are proper conservatives that believe in immigration control, family values, self reliance and prudent management of the economy.

“My Conservative Party membership lapsed in 2013 and I today joined the party.”

Andy Wigmore the former diplomat ex-kipper working under Banks in communications for his Leave.EU campaign went on to say:

“Like thousands of other Brexit supporters I’ve rejoined the Conservative Party to ensure that if there is a leadership contest then I can influence the type of leader the country and the Tory Party need.

“We need a Brexit leader, one who believes in Brexit and will deliver what 17.4 million people voted for.

“A strong Tory membership is essential to hold the leadership and MPs to account, if the party continues on its current path then we will not get the Brexit we voted for and will ultimately end up with a Corbyn Government – both are not an option.”

This is not the first time Aaron Banks or Andy Wigmore have been members of the Conservative Party.

Leave.EU have been sending out an appeal for people for join the Conservative Party on social media, some calling the campaign appeal;  ‘Blue Wave’  for the Tory party to follow suite.

The Guardian have already jumped on the bandwagon claiming Brexiteers will unite around Boris Johnson and going as far as to say it represent a;  “A real and present rightwing danger.” But what can we expect from a news company as biased as The Guardian?

Boris John has already achieved what most Tories can’t and that is being elected as Mayor of London twice, he arguably had some sway with people mobilising some support around the campaign to leave the European Admittedly, very late in the game and a little opportunistically.

There are many members of the Conservative Party and even more people that would like to see a genuine Conservative leading the Conservative Party. They could back Boris Johnson, Jacob Rees-Mogg or even someone entirely different. But what we do know is Aaron Banks and Andy Wigmore are up to something that involves No.10 Downing Street.

Anna Soubry, Conservative MP: I Couldn’t Remain In A Conservative Party Led By Jacob Rees-Mogg

Soubry, 61 has claimed she would leave a Conservative Party led by Jacob Rees-Mogg supposedly because of his stance on abortion and Brexit. We are sure he’s not losing any sleep over losing the support of his Euro-fanatic colleague.

She voiced her foam outrage of ‘Moggmentum’ by blasting on  ITV’s GMB:  “I couldn’t stay in a party led by somebody like him.”

The Euro-fanatic went on to say she was “really cheesed off” with Brexiteers pushing for a  “hard Brexiteers” when this is simply just the Brexit the 17.4 million people voted for. Anna Soubry is a Conservative and the Conservatives have a mandate from the people to completely leave the EU and become a fully independent sovereign nation-state democracy so, why does she not forget about the EU and back Brexit?

If ‘Moggmentum’ continues to rise and Jacob Rees-Mogg become the Tory, Soubry could be packing her bags and joining the Labour Party.

80% Support Jacob Rees-Mogg In Westmonster Twitter Poll

A poll conducted by Westmonster on social media site Twitter saw Rees-Mogg surge to the top, 80% supported JRM to be the next Tory leader.

Westmonster asked it’s online followers who they would support as the next Conservative Party Leader out of the following:

  • Jacob Rees-Mogg MP
  • Boris Johnson, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs
  • Michael Gove, Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
  • David Davis, Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union

An amazing 80% of Twitter users supported Mogg, Boris got 10%, Gove received 6% and Davis got a paltry 4%.

3,417 users Twitter users took part.

I believe this is what they refer to as ‘Moggmentum’. Theresa ‘The Appeaser’ May is backsliding, stalling and selling out her people during this so-called Brexit ‘Transition Period’ and negotiations. This isn’t the Brexit the 17.4 million people voted for on the 23rd June 2016. Since the people voted to leave the EU the Tory-led British government have not delivered the mandate they were given by the people and that means new leadership is needed within the Conservative Party and the United Kingdom needs a new Prime Minister.
