The ISIS bride Shamima Begum has reportedly been deprived of her British citizenship, which has been revealed by Home Office documents released by her family.
ITV News got hold of a letter, which was reportedly acquired Begum’s mother.
“Please find enclosed papers that relate to a decision taken by the Home Secretary, to deprive your daughter, Shamima Begum, of her British citizenship,” The letter stated.
“In light of the circumstances of your daughter, the notice of the Home Secretary’s decision has been served of file today (19th February), and the order removing her British citizenship has subsequently been made.”
A lawyer representing the Begum family has indicated they might legally challenge the decision.
Tasnime Akunjee, posted this message on Twitter: “Family are very disappointed with the Home Office’s intention to have an order made depriving Shamima of her citizenship.
“We are considering all legal avenues to challenge this decision.”
A petition was created by Stephen Kent is calling on the UK government to ‘Ban all ISIS members from returning to UK’, which has attracted almost 500,000 signatures. A petition only needs 100,000 signatures to be considered for debate in Parliament.
