Emmanuel Macron bizarrely said “nationalism is a betrayal of patriotism.” Just a few weeks after US President Donald J. Trump confidently claimed “I’m a nationalist.”

Macron has previously called for a “Real European army” to apparently protect ourselves American aggression, alongside a few other things. Emmanuel reportedly has a 70% disapproval rate in France, in a French poll.

The French President also claimed “old demons are rising again”, while he welcomed the US President to France for Armistice marking the 100th anniversary of World War One.

He also claimed “Patriotism is the exact opposite of nationalism.” Which if you know anything about political philosophy, is completely absurd.  Nationalism is synonym of patriotism, nationalism is the belief of the promotion of your nation state, especially with the aim of gaining and maintaining sovereignty (self-governance) over the homeland.

Is Macron attempting to pit EU member-states against one of our oldest and most trusted allies? The European Union is playing a very dangerous and unfair game with the US, even some EU Commissioner Günther Oettinger from Germany branding Donald Trump an “autocrat.” Brussels will make any excuse and use any scapegoat they can to fulfil their dream of an army that swears allegiance to the European Union.
