Tony Abbot the former Prime Minister of Australia claims that the United Kingdom should exit the European Union without a deal (No Deal Brexit) and secure complete independence.
Tony Abbot wrote in the Spectator criticising the British Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit polic, blasting: “Let’s get one thing straight: a negotiation that you’re not prepared to walk away from is not a negotiation — it’s surrender. It’s all give and no get.”
Mr. Abbot describes himself as a ‘long-life friend’ of the UK and he was in fact born in Lambeth, London. He also says the UK should leave the EU on WTO rules, he says: “A world trade Brexit lets Britain set its own rules… No ‘divorce bill’ whatsoever should be paid to Brussels.”
The 28th Prime Minister of Australia also confidently claims that: “Britain has nothing to fear from a no deal.”
Tony Abbot also went on to declare that there is no plausible reason for a border in Northern Ireland, claiming: “There’s no need on Britain’s part for a hard border with Ireland. Britain wouldn’t be imposing tariffs on European goods, so there’s no money to collect. The UK has exactly the same product standards as the Republic, so let’s not pretend you need to check for problems we all know don’t exist.”
Nigel Farage the former UKIP leader shared Tony Abbot’s article on Twitter quoting: “A negotiation that you’re not prepared to walk away from is not a negotiation — it’s surrender.”
Abbot claimed that if the European Union imposed of any kind of sanctions on the UK it would be restricted under WTO rules, declaring: “Of course, the EU might not like this British leap for independence. It might hit out with tariffs and impose burdens on Britain as it does on the US — but WTO rules put a cap on any retaliatory action. The worst it can get? We’re talking levies of an average 4 or 5 per cent.”
If our incumbent Prime Minister Theresa May bothered to take constructive criticism on-board she would learn a lot from Tony Abbot’s article who was in the past a Prime Minister himself, pressure mounts for the PM to hash out a new Brexit deal or leave without one.
