The controversial Conservative Party MP, Boris Johnson spent the evening giving a rip roaring speech in support of free trade, freedom, and genuine conservative values at a Tory Party fringe event taking place in Birmingham.

In a speech many disenfranchised Brexit supporters were waiting for which drew in very large crowds, Boris branded Theresa May’s Chequers plan as  “politically humiliating”, he went on to call it “dangerous, politically and economically.” He attacked the plan even further by saying:  “This is not democracy! This is not what people voted for!”

Boris Johnson finished by explaining:

“It’s not taking back control, it’s forfeiting control. Don’t be fooled by the suggestion that the EU will ultimately reject these proposals. They want to demonstrate to any other country that might dream to follow suit, that you cannot leave the EU without suffering adverse political and economic consequences.”

“What the Chequers proposals show, is that the United Kingdom – for all its power and might, and network of influences around the world – was unable ultimately to take back control. And instead of reasserting our ability to make our laws, the UK will effectively be paraded in manacles down the Rue de la Loi like Caractacus.”

The words spoken by Boris Johnson were met with a chorus of hands clapping cheering. We can only hope the incumbent Prime Minister will take note of this speech and act accordingly.  Tory Party members seem more interested in attending these fringe events than the official Conservative Party conferences.
