Former London Mayor and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has slammed the Chequers Deal and claimed Theresa May was putting the UK in a terrible position, he said: “if Chequers were adopted it would mean that for the first time since 1066 our leaders were deliberately acquiescing in foreign rule.”
Boris Johnson wrote in The Telegraph, where he claimed “The Irish backstop is a monstrosity that wipes out our sovereignty.” And even went as far as to say it was a: “Little short of an attempt to annex Northern Ireland.” That would mean that Northern Ireland would remain: “Part of the EU Customs Union and large parts of its Single Market.”
Boris also blasted the response from the government: “Saying that if Brussels cannot be satisfied on our plans for the Irish border, then we are volunteering that the whole of the UK must remain effectively in the Customs Union and large parts of the Single Market.”
Which ends up as a: “Spectacular political car crash.” And would also be a: “Total write-off of Brexit.” Boris finished by saying it would amount to: “Swallowing the camel of EU membership in all but name.”
Andrea Jenkyns Conservative Party MP for Morley and Outwood praised the article authored by Boris Johnson via Twitter and seemed to pledge her support to: “Chuck Chequers.”
Boris Johnson has done a good job of displaying the fears and objections Brexiteers have with Mrs. May’s Chequers Plan. It is becoming very questionable whether or not Theresa May could get the Chequers Deal through Westminster as leave voters concerns intensify. The British government should give the people what they voted for an immediate withdrawal from the European Union in it’s entirety.
