Millionaire businessman Arron Banks, Andy Wigmore and now former UKIP MEP Steven Wolfe are trying to bring tens of thousands of small “c” conservative UKIP voters into the Conservative Party.
The passionate pro-Brexit founder of campaign group Leave.EU Arron Banks has recently attempted to join the Tory Party as an official member, the Conservative Central Office are making his application to become a member extremely difficult.
Steven Wolfe the former UKIP MEP and Arron Banks both founded the “Blue Wave” Tory campaign organisation, they are aiming to add around 50,000 members to Conservative Party from the ranks of disaffected UKIP supporters and people that voted to leave the EU and are unhappy current government policy.
Both Banks and Wolfe believe the only way to secure a complete exit from the EU is from inside the Conservative Party.
The Blue Wave campaign highlights that the Leave.EU Facebook page has around 1 million followers.
They say that 3,000 more members have joined the Tory Party in just 3 weeks. The CCO have questioned these statistics.
Reportedly the Conservative Party has around 120,000 party members.
If the Blue Wave campaign and Leave.EU can achieve their aim of increasing the party membership by 50,000, a more conservative pro-Brexit Prime Minister would be likely.
Many traditional small “c” conservatives are crying out for a Tory Party that makes a return to it’s roots. Which would focus on the military, the family and more traditional values.
The Conservative Central Office have currently blocked the pending applications of Arron Banks and Steven Wolfe to become official party members.
Even still, Banks and Wolfe are still actively campaigning for more people to join the ranks of the Tory Party.
Many Conservative Party members and MPs have slammed the Conservative Central Offices decision.
Andrew Bridgen the Conservative Party MP for North West Leicestershire, has claimed he would allow Mr. Banks to join his local Conservative Party Association against the direct wishes of CCO. citing the decision as “absurd.”
According to Sky News a Conservative Party MP threatened to take the Conservative Central Office to court if they carry on interfering.
One things is certain, the Conservative Party is being filled with thousands more Pro-Brexit, anti-mass migration and traditional conservative members. In a future leadership election it could be a lot more difficult for another Liberal -Conservative candidate like David Cameron or Theresa May to become the party leader.
