Conservative MPs that supported the UK remaining a member of the EU have been unnerved by the influx of new members mainly from Leave.EU “Blue Wave” campaign to get Brexiteers to join the Tory Party.
The front page of the Times revealed how the remainer establishment fear ‘infiltration’ from UKIP members and possible new Brexit-backing Prime Minister. You could argue that is very odd considering the Tories stood on a Brexit supporting manifesto.
One Conservative Party MP went on to tell the paper how the membership locally speaking had risen from 170 to 221 in a couple of months, many other Tory MPs are making similar claims. These membership surges seem to be in line with MPs that do not support a genuine Brexit with the likes of Nicky Morgan and Dominic Grieve.
Anna Soubry the Tory Euro-fanatic MP went on to say:
“We are on a membership drive at the same time as the likes of Banks are urging members of UKIP and other hard Brexiteers to join our party to topple the leader and destroy government policy.
“I’ve called on the Party Chairman to end the membership drive until we can be confident we are not being infiltrated by people who are not Conservatives.”
Anna Soubry seems to be doing more to damage the Tories than any new members. How is Anna Soubry remotely Conservative the philosophy not the political party? Her own constituents voted for Brexit but she does not respect their wishes or democracy and referenda itself. The Tories should not start banning Brexiteers from joining their ranks otherwise all they will be left with is a load of careerist MPs that don’t believe in Brexit negotiating our withdrawal like we already do.
Reportedly Arron Banks Conservative Party membership application was rejected owing to people like Anna Soubry complaining to the Chairman of the Party.
It is quite clear Pro-EU MPs are genuinely afraid of being unseated by Brexiteers in the next General Election, it does look like Leave.EU have the Pro-EU Tory establishment running scared!
